Welcome to Spokane Area Retired Educators

The mission of SAREA is to strengthen bonds of friendship among retired educators, to encourage continued interest in education, to promote the general welfare of retired educators, to work toward improved retirement legislation, and to take an active part in civic affairs.

SAREA supports non-profit organizations within our community. Grants are available to support educators within our area to better meet the needs of their students. Scholarships for future educators are granted yearly. The PAWS Scholarships are specifically for hard-working students in need.

Our first meeting together this fall will be the Picnic at Mirabeau Meadows Park on Wednesday, September 27.

The next General Meeting will be on Wednesday, October 11th, 10:00, ESD 101. The presentation’s focus will address PEBB Medical Benefits monthly premiums for 2024.
The traditional Holiday Luncheon will be held at CenterPlace on Wednesday, December 14.
The Scholarship Luncheon will be Wednesday, May 22, at CenterPlace.

We will continue to update the website as well as regular mailings.
